In the Netherlands and especially in Amsterdam, you have the most bicycles per capita of any country in the world. 1 in 3 commuters get to work on their bicycle. You will see bike parking places that have many, many, hundreds of bicycles in one spot.
What is very cool and I saw the same thing in Copenhagen, is the many types of configurations and accessories they have to go along with their setup.
It is not unusual to see like my photo, a huge, reinforced cargo setup in the front, where many times two children will sit in front, as their parents take them to school or around town, in any weather conditions.
We can learn a lot from the Dutch, and I think we are as major metropolitan cities around the world have established automated bike rental spots all over their cities.
