My time in Venice was magical for me. We made a last minute stopover in this beautiful Italian city, on the way back from Greece. Instead of staying in the touristy areas, we stayed in Cannaregio, one of the six “Sestien” or districts in Venice.
Cannaregio, is very authentic, in a great location and is much less touristy. The first morning, I couldn’t sleep and early in the morning, I got up and explored my new environment.
The advantages of shooting so early in the morning, are that there are very few people, especially tourists, out that early, and the light is magnificent.
With the beautiful morning light, I was able to take my time with compositions, with no distractions. The one downside of taking photos during #sunrise is, as time progresses the light gets worse. With #sunsets, the light gets better over time, until it turns to black.
Surprise yourself, get up early and explore, shoot deliberately and efficiently. In my case, I had no idea where anything was and that made the walk even more special. So getting lost is one of the best gifts you can give yourself in a new location.
