My home away from home for the last eight years in the summer has been on the island of South Evia, Greece in the town of Karystos. It is about an hour’s ferry ride from Athens Port Rafina and a 15 minute drive on the other side. If you are looking for an authentic Greek experience, where the locals go on holiday, and there are relatively a small number of outside tourists, Karystos is the place.
Life is simpler there and I try my best to dial it down digitally. The big decision of the day is which of the many beautiful beaches should we go to today? After spending the afternoon on the beach, I watched the daylight turn into sunset light.
As the sun was setting on the water, I noticed this shaft of light and the father and son playing paddleball in that light.
They say the best camera is the one you have with you. Normally for travel work I use the Fuji XT1, but at the beach all I had was my Iphone 6 plus. So this is my first post on Instagram not from a professional camera. I hope the spirit and tranquility of the scene was captured effectively.
By the way, from a tourist standpoint all is well, there are no inconveniences and you should come to one of the most beautiful countries on Earth.
